Nestled among four major Eastern cities (New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, DC) and next door to history, the Lancaster Arts Hotel is the latest masterpiece in Lancaster City’s bright and blossoming Uptown. Though Lancaster is known more as the home of the Pennsylvania Dutch, the city itself is a mecca of colorful culture kept secret by the locals. We invite you to indulge your inner adventurer and explore our convenient location in both the city of Lancaster and in south central Pennsylvania.
Behind the brick walls and along the brick walks of the nation’s oldest inland city lies a hidden wealth of galleries, museums, shops, and cafes. Head south of the Arts Hotel on Prince Street and you’ll soon find yourself in the middle of Gallery Row, a solid lineup of art galleries that throw open their doors every First Friday to inspire the passing pedestrian with wine and fine arts and crafts. Stroll a little farther, and you’ll find yourself before the Fulton Theatre, the nation’s oldest continuously operating theatre in the country. Turn east towards Penn Square, and you learn more about Lancaster’s heritage at Central Market, the oldest operating farmers’ market in the US, and the Cultural History museum, one of the many boutique museums in Lancaster’s historic city center. From there, take a breather at one of the funky cafes and coffeehouses that dot the cityscape or indulge in afternoon tea in one of Lancaster’s tea rooms. On your way back to the Arts Hotel, visit the long stretch of eclectic vintage and antique shops on Queen Street. For the more athletically minded, Clipper Magazine Stadium, home of the 2006 Atlantic League Champions, the Lancaster Barnstormers, is right around the corner from the hotel and doubles as an outdoor ice rink in the winter.
